About MePossessing more than 20 years of experience in the financial services and insurance industries, Dawn Johnson has held numerous high-level management positions with the United Services Automobile Association (USAA). Currently operating as a corporate consultant, Ms. Johnson applies her expertise in business development, operations optimization, and customer experience toward helping executive managers to achieve greater profits and retain their customers longer. Dawn Johnson also holds a long history of balancing her professional responsibilities with continuing education, philanthropy, and recreational activities.
Prior to launching her career, Dawn Johnson attended Kansas State University, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications in 1984. In 1987, she joined USAA’s marketing team as a marketing programs specialist. Starting her career at USAA, Dawn Johnson quickly rose up the management ranks, holding several positions in the company’s Property and Casualty Insurance Group before being appointed President and CEO of the Financial Planning Services division. Singled out by her superiors for her ability to successfully restructure and implement turnaround plans, she was promoted to President and CEO of USAA’s Alliance Services division in 2003 and appointed as the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in 2004. Ms. Johnson’s four-year tenure as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer resulted in the growth of customer retention programs, optimization of the company’s internal processes, and an international expansion of the Fortune 200 firm’s brand and product awareness.
During her career, Dawn Johnson built on her management expertise by participating in continuing education programs such as USAA’s Managerial Information Seminar series and by attending the executive program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Ms. Johnson also maintains a rich history of contributing generously to community projects and humanitarian agencies, including the Ronald McDonald House Charities, United Way, and Wounded Warriors. Outside of her professional pursuits, she stays active by reading, traveling, and working out.
